Friday Funnies

Holy cow--Friday already?! This has been one eventful week!

My brother is temporarily living with us while he looks for a job/place to live and I have really enjoyed having him here! It'll be really nice having him in town, too--especially when Baby gets here!

Annieway, funnies time!

I loved Drake and Josh! LOVED it!
Yes, I laughed.. I'm immature, you don't have to tell me..

Convertible Rides, a Deaf Kitten and Family Time

Brandon actually had a 4-day weekend this last week.. things like this never happen anymore with his new job so we knew we needed to take advantage and get out of town for a couple of days.

So out to my Uncle George and Aunt Judy's farm we went!

It was literally the perfect weekend: we got to sleep in, eat amazing food, visit with family and just relax--after all the stress of last week, it was definitely the getaway we both needed!

I worked late on Friday so we didn't hit the road until close to 8:30pm; luckily, the farm is only about 2 1/2 hours away so it wasn't too bad of a drive (but boy were we exhausted by the time we got there)! Everyone was already asleep when we arrived so Brandon and I took quick showers and hit the hay.

Saturday
  • Woke up, ate delicious coffee cake and visited for awhile.
  • Went for a two-hour drive around the area in my uncles beautiful 1964 Impala convertible.
  • Feasted on boiled shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp and frog-eye salad (my fave!).
  • Played with the adorable new kitten (she's deaf but super sweet & playful!).
  • Napped.
  • Visited with my cousin Angie (George & Judy's daughter) and her family.
  • Feasted on "Pioneer Woman" meatloaf, mushroom rice casserole and cheesecake.
  • Visited on the beautiful wrap around porch until the sun went down.
My Grandma and Grandpa Kasten's headstone--they are buried at one of the most beautiful and tranquil cemeteries I have ever been to.
Yummy!! We love our shrimp so we were happy campers!
Sitting on the porch at dusk
Sunday
  • Went to church (which was special because it was my grandmas church and brought back many happy memories of visiting her--plus, its the church my mom/aunts/uncles all grew up attending).
  • Feasted on lasagna, garlic bread and more frog-eye salad (by the way, I never knew that was made with pasta--mind=blown).
  • Visited with my cousins Mark, Nancy & Megan and my Uncle Denny and Aunt Jean (who all came out for the afternoon).
  • Headed home to see Miss Bitsy at around 3pm.
I just love my family!
It was such a lovely weekend and I can't wait to visit again! I also can't wait to take Baby out to the farm to see his great Aunt & Uncle--Brandon and I are so blessed to have the families we have!

22 Week Bumpdate

My bumpdate is a day late.. sorry..

What is in the air this summer?! My allergies are awful! We visited my aunt and uncle this weekend (more on that tomorrow!) and I started feeling kinda nasty Saturday night and then by Sunday I was a full blown snot/sneeze/headache machine. Yuck. I have also had a really itchy throat that has progressed into a bad sore throat.. so bring on the hot tea and Sierra Mist!

Anyway, enough complaining--time to update ya on this bump!
This is about as good as it gets when I'm home sick.
How far along: 21 weeks, 5 days (AKA 22 weeks)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: On Friday night I was only a pound over my pre-pregnancy weight--however, after all of the yummy food I ate this weekend (and all of the Sierra Mist I'm drinking), I'm up another 2 pounds! I guess that's a really dragged out way of saying I'm up 3 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Nope.

Stretch marks: Noooo!

Sleep: I <3 my naps but nighttime sleep has been hard to come by because of throat.. oh well.. I just sleep whenever I can.

Best moment last week: Visiting Uncle George and Aunt Judy out on the farm--it was the perfect combination of both fun and relaxing. I'll share pictures/stories tomorrow!

Movement: Still no fluttering but I'm definitely feeling something (Baby, is that you?!). In the mornings when I put my hand on my bump, I can also feel little "kicks" (for lack of a better word)--not sure if that's the baby kicking/moving or if it's just gas bubbles..

Food cravings/aversions: I'm still a happy camper and will eat anything--loving my meats, veggies and cereal!

Gender: Boy babe.

Labor signs: Nooo!

Belly button - in or out? Innie.

What I miss: My family.. this weekend went by wayyyyy too quickly.

What I am looking forward to: Picking out a name. Brandon and I talked about it a little bit on our way home Sunday so we have an idea but nothing is set in stone yet.

Milestones: I think I feel the baby moving..? Maybe?

It's a... (The BIG Reveal!)

Okay, I KNOW I said I was going to wait until next week to post our big reveal but I can't hold it in any longer..

IT'S A BOY!!!!
The announcement we sent to our parents/families
Our FB announcement (yes, I had to include Bitsy--just look at how excited she is!)
We really couldn't be more happy or excited about having a little boy!

Right from the start, I knew it was a boy.

In fact, I was positive.

But then all of the lying old wives tales threw me off (my linea nigra only goes to my belly button, I'm breaking out like crazy and having my beauty "taken away" by the baby, babies heart rate is always above 140, etc.) so I decided it must be a girl.

Baby was being shy during the sonogram so the nurse warned us that we might not be able to tell the gender (baby wouldn't open his legs!)--but right then, baby stretched out and we all saw it. Yep, definitely a boy!

I didn't know what to say and was trying not to cry (tears of happiness!) so I just turned to Brandon and said "it's a boy!!" It was such an incredible moment and I will never forget the pure joy I felt; I forgot all about work, doctors bills and all of the little stresses of life--all I could think about was our son.

Thank you to everyone for your kind and encouraging words--it's such a blessing to share this journey with all of you!

Party, Party, I like to Party

The C Word..

Yep, you read that right..

I'm about to use the "C" word. A lot. You've been warned.

WHY CAN'T IT BE CHRISTMAS ALREADY?! (what did you think I was going to say??)

Seriously, I am dying for it to be Christmas. I've already started listening to Christmas music (typically I make myself wait until after Labor Day, but I gave in early this year..), have bought several gifts and am already making dinner plans (I won't be able to travel because I'll be so close to my due date so this will be our first time hosting).

Get. Here. Christmas.
The annual crown pic with my Aunt Nancy--one of many Christmas eve traditions!
Christmas 2009--holy bangs, Annie
Brandon's first Christmas back from Afghanistan, 2011
My beautiful family
While Christmas music, gifts & food are all great, the best part of the season is celebrating family and the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. I can't wait to share the meaning of the season with Baby and start new family traditions of our own!

Well, I better get back to listening to my "Swingin' Christmas" channel on Jango now..

Merry (4 months until) Christmas, everyone!

21 Week Bumpdate

Our sonogram was yesterday and I am still sitting here in awe of how much I can love somebody I've never even met.. every time I look at the pictures of our little munchkin, I tear up. God is so good and I can't believe how truly blessed we are.
Don't be too camera shy, little one--your mamma is a shutterbug!
We are telling our families the gender of Baby S. later this week so I'll plan on sharing with all of you next week!! I'll give you a hint.. it's either a boy or a girl..

Anyway, here's what we've been up to this last week!
Gah, that mirror..
How far along: Well.. now they are guessing that I'm due January 2nd, so I'm technically 20 weeks, 5 days (but for the sake of confusion, I'm just going to pretend I'm already 21 weeks.. close enough, right?).

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Up 2 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight!

Maternity clothes: Nope.

Stretch marks: Noooo!

Sleep: My allergies are killing me (it seems like everyone has the same problem right now though) so I'm always feeling groggy and sick.. and I wake up multiple times during the night because my throat itches. Oh well--the first freeze will be here before we know it!

Best moment last week: Most definitely our sonogram but a lot of tears were shed before they got me in.. I've had this sonogram/appt. scheduled for over a month now and I took the morning off from work and Brandon was able to take his lunch break early so he could be there with me. Long story short, the sonogram was never ordered (the nurse even told me she doesn't know what happened because it should have been), I started bawling because I thought they were going to postpone it, they ended up getting one scheduled an hour after the original time and we finally got to see the babe. Yesterday was such a roller coaster of emotions (I was embarrassed for crying--freaking hormones)!

Movement: I'm still not feeling any "fluttering" to speak of which surprised the doctor.. hopefully soon!

Food cravings/aversions: I still love food.. I made German food for dinner last night and my taste buds squealed with delight (sausage and spaetzle--yum)!

Gender: I'll tell ya soon :D

Labor signs: Nooo!

Belly button - in or out? Innie.

What I miss: Seeing the baby--I set one of our sono pics as my lock screen image just so I could see the little darling every time I reach for my phone.

What I am looking forward to: Shopping for clothes!!

Milestones: We know the gender!

Where's My Hair (and a Bumpdate Announcement)?!

Since we find out the gender of our sweet little baby later this morning, I have decided to postpone my 21 week bumpdate until tomorrow.. I won't be able to reveal what we're having just yet, but I will have some exciting updates (like when Baby is for sure due).

In the meantime, I chopped off my hair!

I have always been a short hair gal.. it just fits my personality and lifestyle more (my lifestyle being that I can't do hair), so it's good to be back! I just wish I would have cut it sooner.. it's been a long summer here in Kansas.

Umm, lets see, what else..

My brother came down Friday night and stayed until Sunday afternoon--he's seriously the funniest person I know so it was great to just laugh and visit (he's moving here in the next couple of weeks and I'm stoked)!

Brandon played poker with his buddies Friday night so Joey and I ate pizza and watched Clear History (oh my gosh, if you haven't watched this yet, you are missing out! It's basically a long episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm--so it's pretttttay prettttay prettttttaaaaayyyy prettay good). Saturday consisted of work, a long nap, church, a lovely visit from Auntie Sharon and bestie Turin, and We're the Millers.

It was a perfect day..

Until...

We decided to grab dinner at Taco Bell before we went to the movies. Joey got two orders of Nachos Bel Grande and ate one at the restaurant and brought the other back to our house. Long story short, he was nice enough to let me have a few nachos, I grabbed for the perfect chip (loaded with cheese, sour cream and fire sauce) and dropped it on my phone.

Wah wah wahhhhhhhhh.

It took about 2 Clorox wipes to get it cleaned up and my heart/taste buds/ego wept. Oh well..

How was your weekend? Anything exciting happen in your neck of the woods?!
