Our First Week in the Mile High City

Last night for supper, I made waffles and turkey bacon--the news reported the current temperature as being -25 (with the windchill) and breakfast foods just sounded warm and comforting. As Brandon and I enjoyed the sweet and buttery goodness of the hot, homemade waffles, it dawned on me that we have been living in Denver for over a week now.

How that is even possible, I do not know--we have been keeping pretty busy so its going by really, really quickly! What have we been up to, you ask?

Well..

Wednesday
  • Jax and I arrived at the apartment early in the afternoon; immediately after arriving, we unloaded my car and headed to Walmart to do a little grocery shopping.
  • Headed home and unpacked most of the kitchen.
  • Made a stuffed crust pizza.
  • Set up our bedroom.
  • Crashed hard.
Sleepy boys.
"Mom.. I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore."
Thursday
  • Slept in a little bit and unpacked some more.
  • Lunch at Q'doba, followed by shopping at Walmart and Best Buy.
  • More unpacking.
  • Kicked back and watched some quality network TV (we decided to forgo cable for now--it's actually been very nice!)
  • Enjoyed Jackson's first Colorado snow.
  • Enjoyed Jackson's first power outage (the power was out from 10:30pm-3:30am--go figure, I had just washed our comforter and it was still damp so we piled on the blankets and the 3 of us **4 if you count Bitsy** snuggled in bed to keep warm).
He loves to shop!
My babies staying warm on a snowy evening.
Yep, he's going to be a blondie!
Baby's first power outage
Friday
  • Headed to LoDo to surprise my Aunt Nancy at work.
  • Lunch at Noodles (yummmmm!).
  • Shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond and Penney's (we had gift cards to spend--the BB&B cards were from our wedding!)
  • Naps.
  • More unpacking.
Saturday
  • Even more unpacking.
  • Seinfeld marathon.
  • Visit from Aunt Nancy & Uncle Rolf (our first visitors!)
  • Dinner at Olive Garden with my best friend and her husband.
  • Watched the first hour of SNL and then crashed hard.
Jax with his Aunt Jen & Uncle Ryan.
Giving Peyton a (useless) pep talk
Sunday
  • Church with my parents and Great Aunt Millie.
  • Lunch at Cracker Barrel.
  • Super Bowl and lots of good food with my parents.
  • Moped around due to the results of the "game."
  • Ate leftover queso, ribs, and cake.
Jackson with his special Great Great Aunt Millie.
Jax in his game day church outfit.
Monday
  • Brandon's first day at the new job!
  • Walked around the apartment complex with Jax.
  • Started watching "Breaking Bad" again (it helps with long nursing sessions).
  • Played inside.
  • Made (and burned) Teriyaki chicken for supper.
All bundled up for our walk--we love our Ergo!
Playing on his mat from "Uncle Papa" Vic.
Bedtime cuddles.
Tuesday
  • Enjoyed the snow and cold from inside.
  • More "Breaking Bad."
  • More playing/cuddling.
  • Went to grocery store without the boys (Brandon volunteered to stay home with Jax..shopping without worrying about the baby felt like a little vacation!).
  • Pizza for supper.
  • Up all night with Mr. Bright Eyes (Jackson, not Brandon).
Bits enjoying the snow show.
More cuddling.
Wednesday
  • Long naps (for Mommy and Jax).
  • Lots of cuddling (it was a high of 3 degrees; -25 with the windchill).
  • A little unpacking.
  • Waffles and turkey bacon for supper (as previously mentioned).
So, yeah.. that's been our week. Interesting stuff, huh?

Once the weather warms up (anything above freezing sounds great right about now!), Jax and I will be regulars at the local park, library, and museums.. I can't wait! I'm so loving being a stay-at-home mom and feel so incredibly blessed for the opportunity to do so!

A mushy, heartfelt post about all of that coming soon..

  1. Looks like you guys have had a good week :)
This weather is ridiculous, though. I'm glad it wasn't snowing or iced when you were moving.
